Democrat AGs Exposed After ‘Armed Nurse’ Killed By Border Patrol

The January 24 shooting of 37-year-old ICU nurse Alex Pretti by a U.S. Border Patrol agent in

Minneapolis has ignited controversy over immigration enforcement, gun rights, and federal-local

law enforcement relations. Pretti reportedly confronted agents during a Department of Homeland

Security operation and became involved in a physical altercation before being shot. Federal

authorities defended the agent’s actions, while some protestors claimed Pretti was exercising his First and Second Amendment rights.

The incident has highlighted tensions surrounding gun rights and political consistency. Rob Romano of the

Firearms Policy Coalition noted that in 2024, Democratic attorneys general in at least a dozen

states argued there is no constitutional right to carry firearms at political events or protests.

Critics argue this contradicts the support some left-leaning voices showed for Pretti’s actions, fueling accusations of selective advocacy.

Several people on social media also pointed out the hypocrisy of Democrats who have long favored

more gun control now advocating for Pretti because they simply dislike the current administration.

Vice President J.D. Vance described the unrest as “engineered chaos,” blaming far-left agitators and local officials for resisting federal enforcement. Republican lawmakers echoed calls for increased oversight of DHS, ICE, and CBP, while Senator Bill Cassidy demanded a full investigation into the shooting. Representative Andrew Garbarino and others have renewed calls for congressional hearings on federal immigration operations in Minneapolis.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz publicly urged the federal government to withdraw ICE agents, calling the operations “sickening” and warning against using local communities as political staging grounds. The incident has prompted protests, social media debate, and nationwide scrutiny over how federal enforcement interacts with local jurisdictions.

Attorney General Pam Bondi and federal officials emphasized that obstruction of federal operations is a crime, while community groups have sought to support residents and advocate for transparency. The shooting underscores the complex balance between constitutional rights, public safety, and federal authority, highlighting the need for clear protocols, accountability, and cooperation to prevent future tragedies.
